CD reissue Frontier Records 1991 with bonus tracks

"The Three O'Clock were the quintessential L.A. Paisley Underground band. Lead singer and bassist Michael Quercio in fact coined the term to describe the set of bands, including the Dream Syndicate, Rain Parade, Green On Red and the Bangles, who incorporated the chiming guitars of the Byrds and the Beatles into their pop songs with a psychedelic bent, and the clothes to match".
(Denise Sullivan, All-Music Guide)
"Sixteen Tambourines is (...) an incredible full-length collection of chiming, memorable power pop tunes played and sung as if each track were likely to get played on every radio station coast-to-coast. Slick and inventive production by Earle Mankey delivers the songs (most co-written by guitarist Louis Gutierrez and bassist Michael Quercio) in utterly engaging style. Best numbers: On My Own, Jet Fighter, And So We Run. Absolutely charming and remarkably memorable".
(Charles P. Lamey, Ira Robbins, Dave Schulps, Trouser Press)

Hi Ex Lion Tamer,
I love you, I really do, but I have to ask you, with all respect, to kindly take down this post. It's one thing if this record were out of print (it's not) or if Frontier were a big label with lots of money coming in (we're not). We're totally independent and trying to stay in business like everyone else... Please understand. And we hope your readers will understand, too. You have impeccable taste. --Betty/Frontier Records
one of the best samples from the beloved paisley era!
Hi Betty,
Actually, I thought this CD was out of print, my bad... Great to see that after all it's still available through the Frontier website!
I removed the download link as requested, leaving the post as a taste of a truly inspirational slice of perfect paisley sound.
That way more people will know about it, and the nice work you're doing at Frontier Records. But, hey!, you don't have to thank me...
You're a class act, EX LION TAMER! Keep up the good work.

Thxs.
Thanks Ex Lion Tamer and Betty!
I just bought this album from Frontier.
the way Betty treated ELT's post about THREE O'CLOCK makes me happy to be an owner of some FRONTIER lps.
Keep going both.
You can get it streamed right here:

Cheers! from Germany
Thanks Bruce, nice input!
:-)
Wow, you all are very cool people! ELT, it must be true about "like attracting like" ! xo
You got that right, Betty: this blog's visitors are nothing but "la crème de la crème".
;-)
This LP/EP reissue is a perfect psych pop CD. Their combination of sixties pop sound and eighties jangle/power pop makes a perfect blend. I bought it on amazon few years ago and it has a special place in my collection. It influenced me so much that I even covered Jetfigter with my band. The Three O'Clock were great influential band that unfortunately never made it big.
Thank you both ... Ex Lion Tamer for this brilliant blog that I just recently discovered and people at Frontier records for this amazing reissue album.
Cheers
Thanks for this post, but after going to Frontier and seeing the price for the CD (a very Tower Records-esque $14), I'll have to seek it out used.
