TO BE CONTINUED... (?)

When I started this blog back in February 2009, I didn't had a clear idea about what its future would be (I still don't have, as you'll see). Truth is - after all these months and several hundred thousands visits later - I am now happy to say that your response to this project was truly great, certainly well above what I expected when I started posting.

But - and there's always a but - I must admit that a certain amount of fatigue has recently crept in. I'm not saying that I've grown tired of spreading my (admitedly very limited) knowledge, or sharing the music from one of the most creative periods in the Story of Pop (for lack of a better word). The problem lies above all in the fact that this is an extremely time consuming activity - not just the posting in itself, but also the fact that coming up with interesting ideas on a daily basis can be hard work (and some of you must know what I'm talking about). Most importantly: I've grown aware that maintaining this blog alive is keeping me from actually listening to the music I love, which is somewhat of an obvious contradiction with this blog's original intentions.

So, getting to some sort of a final resolution, I'm not saying that this is the end - who can say what the future holds - but I'm definitely putting this blog in a state of 'suspended animation' - which is to say that I won't be posting any time soon (if ever), but I'm not shutting it down either: the streamed mp3s will still be there, together with all the album links (at least as long as the service providers let them live). In other words, TO BE CONTINUED - but with a big question mark right there at the end.

Thanks for all the visits, kind comments, general support and for your love of great music.

Wow! I must admit that this is coming as a shock to me.
Coming to this blog not knowing what was waiting for me had become one of my favorite moment of the day!

Now, I completely understand your situation. It's a sad day for us, but a happy one for you. I'll keep hoping it's not the end though.

Thanking you for everything.

You are one of many blogs that I attend (less now that so many have disappeared lately).
I can understand your point about not having time to listen to music, but maybe a post or two once a month would be nice.
Please, pretty please.

great blog, thanks so much for everything.

enjoy :)

Thanks for all the amazing music you posted here. Totally Wired it's one of my favorite blogs ever. I hope you'll decide to keep posting, but I perfectly understand if you'll decide not to: blogging regularly can be draining.
Thanks again for all the great music and reviews.
All best, Luca

I have to say that this is very sad news! This blog was a true gem, and I looked forward to reading it daily! But I understand your situation. Maybe a weekly or twice a month post? Thanks for all the music, and take care!

First of all : Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !!! for creating such a wonderful blog. I enjoyed spending my time here and, of course" I'm quite sad about your decision...but on the other side, I can understand you and your reasons well...

But I will keep hoping and waiting for this blog being continued... in one time or another...

See you

ranxerox said...

Very sorry but totally respect and understand your decisions.
Actually in a way I can admit for myself,( believe amongst many others) that even as a reader, sometimes I spend more time searching for lost, forgotten and new music, instead of spending this precious free time listening to it. Maybe I'm wrong? Possibly.
The thing is that your blog (even if it will remain "no posts" for ever) will be a kind of "small encyclopedia" for this kind of music which is the kind we like.
thanks and hope to be in touch.

Sorry to hear you're stepping back, but I can understand why. I've visited your site every day and probably picked up on half your selections - ie the ones I didn't already have! Thanks for all the great tunes and I hope you continue in some form even it's not with the same demanding daily frequency.

I echo the comments of people who have already posted...I always enjoyed the surprise of seeing what you had posted, and even if it is was something I already had, I felt vindicated that my taste in music was as good as yours.

I understand your decision, and there's no sense in doing this if you've burned out on it, but I want to say both THANK YOU for so many great posts and, if it makes a difference, your posts brighten many days. If that's a difference maker for you, maybe you'll keep going in some fashion. But if not, we appreciate what you have done. Greatly. If this is the end, you'll be missed, Ex Lion Tamer.

Like many other of your blog readers I always look foward for your next post everyday. There's always excitement for the new to me and the ones that bring lots of memories. Thanks for your time and dedication for the music. Hope is not the end. Gracias & saludos.

Oh, say it's not true. I don't condone or like your decision to suspend all activity but I do understand how draining it must be to keep such an excellent blog upright and walking steady for this amount of time. You've done a remarkable job of it and good luck to you in all future ventures. (Now stop all of this whining and put up a new post...kidding)

Wow! I never imagined this would create such a wave of comments. To say that I'm pleasantly surprised would be an understatement: "deeply touched" rings closer to the truth!

Anyway - sorry folks - for the moment my mind is made up and that's that.

Thank you so much, you're the best.

(and yes, probably I'm just an idiot...)

I appreciated your kind gift to the world. Thank you so much for opening my ears to a lot of stuff I wouldn't otherwise have heard.

You posted all my favorite musical memories from my high school and college years, which is how I found TW in the first place. So everything I found here was just as good, and took me back to those days. Greetings from Indianapolis, Matth

You Wouldn't belive but downloaded all your Blog (it took a while...;oP)
I found your Blog only few month ago and it is a Goldmine for all kind of memories and also new artists of the past years.
Thank you very much!!

About fatigue, you are right. I wondered in these past months:"what is this guy doing in his life? Posting new music every day? that's incredible!"

My suggestion is to take a rest and if you feel it, to upload irregularly, only when you find something you think is worth the trouble.

Hi ELT,
thanks for the time you spent for us, it's really my favourite music blog of all times, there is so much records i discovered here, i used to have a blog myself and i know how much works it is, I closed my blog for the similar reasons, no time to listen to new music, play guitar or read a book ...
thank you very much and greetings from France.
PS : i take a look on the new band called "the sonnets" it seems like this good old Aztec Camera, exciting music never ends !

Anyway, thanks for all the music you hsared.

Honestly, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and passion for music. I have learned more & purchased more recordings from this blog more than any other I have come across. I hope you return, but if not, you have done a great service.

Thank you - square.

sad news but i understand...
i'd be interested to know what you are listening to at least, don't have to provide links just a list of what has caught your ear then i can look around for them myself. funny i was thinking today that blogs have replaced record stores for me, many years ago i could spend a day in the city walking around to all the independent stores to see what they had, now they have all closed down. sorry to hear you have closed shop!!

I discovered your Blog just a short time ago and ... whoah; how could it be to find someone who has been traveling exactly through the same musical universe as me ... To find these albums, artists, stories, opinions, statements is wonderful to read.
Anyway, I fully understand your decision... Good luck ! Let me mention an album as possible inspiration:
Red Guitars - Slow to fade (hopfully not this Blog)... Cheers, -fluorescer-

Ex Lion Tamer, you will be missed! But you must have the time you need to listen!! You have awakened so many memories for me and given me so much music I missed the first time around. The best of luck in your future endeavors! I hope further blog activity fits in somehow.

Thanks for all the work you put into this blog... your efforts made a great contribution to the quality of my life in 2009 and last year, and I will continue to enjoy your gifts for as long as I love music. I understand your situation completely... just trying to manage daily life takes up far too much of my own time, and there's often little or no time left for music along the way. I sincerely hope you're enjoying yourself. Best wishes...

As much as I don't want to, I do understand - my own blog (recently risen from its own ashes) insists on being my primary focus, in spite of my reminding it that a blog is only as useful as its author's creativity outside the blog!
We all appreciate what you've done. And we'll all be looking through our telescopes for any sign of your return...

This blog is a record of a phenomenon that occurred for a short burst of time. Thank you so much for documenting it and making it available for those of us who are always searching and are never satisfied. My only regret is not finding this blog when it first started as some of the links are now unavailable.

Best to you,
